Wine = healthy? Maybe an erroneous conclusion

Previous reports that moderate amounts of wine may be healthy for you may have been a misinterpretation of the data. Yes, there is a correlation between good health and moderate wine drinking, but correlations do not imply a causal relationship!

From my Wine-Lovers' Page-a-Day calendar for Jan 12:
"A groundbreaking study reported in 2002 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that, compared to nondrinkers, spirits drinkers, and beer drinkers, those who drank wine in moderation:
* had significantly higher fiber intake
* consumed less saturated fat and cholesterol
* smoked less
* exercised more
Wine drinking has also been linked in numerous studies to higher income and higher IQ, both of which are in turn linked to healthier lifestyle habits."
