Final Fantasy I
Dec. 1st, 2006 04:36 pmI played Final Fantasy I waaaaay back in the days of 8-bit graphics, and I'm not even sure where my original cart and console are for it anymore. But it's available now for Playstation. I started the game last night, and even though they've updated some of the graphics (and I think the music, too), it still brings back memories of late nights and sore thumbs. Fortunately, the PS2 controller is a lot more ergonomic than its ancestors. One oddity: even though the PS2 is backwards compatible, Final Fantasy is forcing me to use a PS1 memory stick for game saves. Hurumph.
What really surprised me is that despite the archaic graphics and gameplay, it was a lot more fun than many other games I've played since.
If you'll excuse me, I've got a princess to save! Now if I can just level up a bit so I can invade that little castle to the north...
