Marriage of John and Mary

Well, they gone and done it! They got themselves hitched!

Very nice wedding -- nice vowels (and consonants). The vows were nice too. A bit of emotion, a bit of humor. Which reminds me, the ring boy and flower girl were great! I also loved the format of the program, as a play program.

Release the doves! a pair of doves, and then a whole flock, were released at the end of the ceremony. The birds circled once or twice before disappearing over the trees.

Then the reception. Cocktails and hors d' oeuvres (which means "horses and eggs"?) with music and mingling, until the reception proper. Tables named after plays that John and Mary have been in (we were at the "Cricket" table). Lots of ren-fest people, as well as people from the aforementioned plays. Blueeowyn was acquainted with a gentleman at our table from a long-ago production of Godspell. Tasty buffet. I've decided I really like asparagus. The best-man toast was one of the best I've heard -- I'll probably remember parts of it for at least a week.

Lots of fun, lots of talking. We finally made it home around midnight.

A morning from heck

Meant to wake at 7, go for a morning walk, then leisurely breakfast and shower. Actually woke at 7:45, had a very rapid shower, skipped breakfast, and left 15 minutes later than desired. Spilled coffee on my shirt (my travel mug was leaking), had slim-fast in the car to make up for the missed breakfast, neglected to grab a coat (I thought one was in the car, but I was wrong) and it's raining today. I got to work and realized that I didn't have my pass, which meant parking in the visitor lot and walking an extra five minutes through the rain with no jacket. I turned around and went home.

I changed shirts, changed coffee mugs, grabbed an apple and a handful of mixed nuts, found my pass and a jacket, and drove back to work, getting there at 10:30, but much more prepared for the day.
