blueeowyn and I have read the first book, and I'm half-way through the second. It's okay, a bit fluffy, not what I'd call literature. I can see the appeal that it has for the teen girls, and I'll probably see the movie.
It doesn't have the page-turner quality that Harry Potter did, which is what I expected with all the hype.
By the way, I got to hear Patricia Briggs read from an upcoming book last weekend, and so I went and bought a copy of "Moon Called" -- the first of her Mercy series (Mercy is a woman living in a Werewolf/Vampire world) -- yes, another werewolf/vampire world. I've read several Dresdon books, a couple of L.K.Hamilton, and a bit of the Twilight series, and still I find Brigg's work to be fresh and active. Highly recommended if you're into the genre.
