Election postponement article

Currently no power exists to postpone/cancel the federal election in case of terrorist event. But give 'em a few days to pass a law...

My real question would be this: if they were able to postpone an election, what would happen to absentees? Would they have their first vote nullified and have to send a seond one? Or would their first vote stand? They might change their mind between sending the first vote and the due date for the "real" vote. Then what?
