about Republicans, from RHF

found on RHF

"Other than telling us how to live, think, marry,
pray, vote, invest, educate our children and, now,
die, I think the Republicans have done a fine job of
getting government out of our personal lives."

First, I want to note that I posted it as a bit of humor. I recognize that it is extremely one-sided as a political view, but still a humorous comment (IMO).

I want to respond briefly to three of the issues, though. The Republicans instituted "No child left behind" which has had a very strong effect on education. The comment about how to die is no doubt a reference to the recent feeding-tube case in Florida. Regarding marriage, the status quo (which the Republican party wishes to maintain) is one boy, one girl. If you want anything else, the government says, "no," which is an intrusion on some peoples' lives. Oddly enough, the author of the quote didn't mention the life/choice issue.
