Art? Protest? Stupidity?

An artist is protesting water wastage in London by letting a faucet flow for a full year. He calls it art -- and while I'm normally inclined to grant a lot of leeway when calling things art, this seems more like a protest at first, and an attention-grabbing scheme upon more reflection.

If you think that calling attention to water wastage by wasting water is a reasonable protest, consider this: would you protest nuclear bombs by setting one off?

To add to the stupidity (which is my opinon on it!), the gallery that houses this "exhibition" can't afford the water bill they will incur, and is counting on donations.

Sigh.

I can understand wanting to make a point but there are better ways to do it. Setting up a fountain system that shows the water table, the spigot, the sewer and letting it slowly dry up over the year would be cool, make the point, and probably only use a couple of gallons which would be a lot more acceptable..
