Gas pump warning(not price-based!)
Fortunately, Rita didn't do much damage to refineries this weekend, so maybe we'll see some relief at the pumps soon! But gas prices aren't my point today.
I may have seen this posted before, but the reminder is worth it, I think:
If you pay for gas with a debit card, the station may send an initial charge of up to $75 to your bank until they can process your actual purchase amount. The $75 charge may be unavailable in your checking account for several days, and you won't know until you innocently bounce a check! The gas stations that do this don't notify you ahead of time, and it's not true at all stations.

no subject
i rarely if ever use my atm card as a "visa" because, protected or not, i simply don't trust anybody with anything that directly accesses my bank account. i actually hate paypal now, in general, because rather than let me transfer money as a cash withdrawel from a credit card, they only take cash withdrawels as e-checks from my bank account. i'd really rather they not have that info.
