Hamas wins election

So we pushed for democracy, and pushed for an early election, and Hamas won. The near future should be interesting...and not in a good way.

Bush will be speaking at 10:15 today about it, so I'm curious to see what his reaction will be.

My fear is that we will be forced to accept Hamas as the democratically chosen government of Palestine, and a Western government will use that as reason to wage war against Palestine. Another fear is that Hamas may make such a war inevitable.

I wonder about this too. In an ideal world, Hamas would realize that true power comes from a democracy and working within the system, not through violence. Yeah, like that's going to happen, right? How many people will have to be killed before we realize that violence is not the answer?
