Mmmm...fresh coffee
Aug. 11th, 2009 11:23 amAs I mentioned yesterday, I tried my hand at home-roasting coffee. So this morning I ground some beans and prepared a pot. It was extremely drinkable. It has a slightly oily texture, and a nice nutty flavor, but the flavor was a little weaker than I like. A little bitterness, but more as an afterthought, not the overwhelming primary sensation. I have enough dried beans to do two or three more roastings, and I think I'll go for a little darker.
So I call this a successful adventure, a definite learning experience. And the resulting coffee is, if not as good as Peet's, very nice.
(Peet's is an online mail-order coffee store, which roasts coffee the day after you order it, then ships the day after that)
