In god we trust? Error in new dollars

Quite a few of the new one-dollar coins are showing up on e-bay for $100 or more. Why? They are missing the "in god we trust" imprint on the edge. The Mint believe about 50,000 such coins made it past the inspectors.

Date: 2007-03-07 09:08 pm (UTC)besides, i always suspect these "accidents" in minting are more "on purposes" anyway just to whip up excitement about collecting coins. it's a pretty tedious and boring hobby if you think about it. i should know!
