Quite a few of the new one-dollar coins are showing up on e-bay for $100 or more. Why? They are missing the "in god we trust" imprint on the edge. The Mint believe about 50,000 such coins made it past the inspectors.

Is this a good time for a "meh"?

i totally want one because i love collecting weird/rare/odd coins. just for fun. but i'm not paying $100 for $1! that's quite the markup! if i happen stumble across one, i'm keeping it, though!

besides, i always suspect these "accidents" in minting are more "on purposes" anyway just to whip up excitement about collecting coins. it's a pretty tedious and boring hobby if you think about it. i should know!

DAmn. Now I gotta look at all of my new dollar coins...

I use them for the bus. It's easier than paper.

And I have fifty of them to check now...

Any other little nifty details you can tell? :)

If you have more than one, could I buy one off of you for a reasonable mark-up?
