D&D 4th edition

I haven't really played D&D in years. But I'm planning to get the new rule set to read about the changes. I understand it's moving towards a more computer-assisted playstyle, or some such.

Really, they did some good work on the puppy. Some parts of it don't quite feel like D&D, while other parts feel like D&D far more than 3rd edition ever felt like D&D.

Oh, Lord! Have I ever mentioned that I stopped playing about the time that 2nd edition came out, partly becaue I got caught up with reenacting and renfaire and all the time that entails, and partly because I really didn't like "those bozos" "mucking with a perfectly good system, and writing down as law all the stuff that good DM's used to just make up"? Yeah, well, hey. I'm heading down for the four o'clock dinner special. Tell those kids to stay offa my lawn, wouldya? ;)

OK, now I feel old, thanks! LOL. Now I'm realizing that most kids playing D&D today don't think of it as a new concept, have never heard of Chainmail, and probably think the game is based on Magic the Gathering or Pokemon, but with the new gimick of using dice instead of cards! Gygax? Who's that?
