Interesting "illegal immigrant" article

Very interesting article asks, What if we threw out all the illegal immigrants?"

Of note, the article indicates that most Americans prefer offering legal status over deportation. It also notes that the cost of a potential border fence between the U.S. and Mexico could be anywhere from $1M to $70M per mile. $70,000,000 for one mile of fence? Somebody's brother must be doing the work...

Have you seen the Penn & Teller: Bullshit episode where they tackled this subject? They hired 6 illegal immigrants and took them out to the border and then had them build an exact replica of the fence our "wonderful" government is proposing. After they finished building this section of fence... Penn & Teller split them into 3 groups of 2 and their entire goal was to get to the other side of the fence. The first group had to go OVER the fence. The Second group had to go THROUGH the fence (using a pair of tinsnips) and the 3rd group had to go UNDER the fence. In ALL cases... the longest it took to get to the other side of the fence was 3 MINUTES!!! 3 FRICKIN MINUTES!!!

This fence plan is THE WORST possible way to spend that money.

I wonder if the U.S. government will hire illegal workers to build their fence. They'd save a lot of money that way!
