Loan rates are really, really low right now. So we applied for a refinance about three weeks ago. Had the appraisal done two or three days later. Since then, haven't heard a peep from the lender or loan officer. They told us up front the process would take about 45 to 60 days, but shouldn't we be getting some feedback by now? Maybe instructions regarding more forms to fill out, or potential closing dates so we can schedule time away from work? At what point should I start bugging the loan officer -- or should I be patient a little longer?

Any thoughts appreciated.

A call or email to your loan officer is not unwarranted, BUT if other mortgage companies are anything like the one I am currently working at, we are all swamped by a wave of loans so deep that we will never claw our way out and instead are going to drown in appraisals, forms and documents. Ahem. Anyways, a call or email should be fine.
