Bah. Hotmail.

Have I complained about hotmail yet this week?

The new "live hotmail" is about the worst e-mail system I could possibly imagine. Copy/Paste is fubar. The address line is fubar. If you navigate away, then come back, you'll find your last read message still open. The send button is fubar. They took what was a moderately functional e-mail system and systematically hacked up anything about it that worked.

I'll probably rant a little more about it in another week or so.

Yes, I could change to g-mail or something else, but I've got about 5000 archived messages to deal with first.

is there an option not to upgrade? or to go back if you haven't upgraded? i haven't opened hotmail since last night and haven't noticed anything different, but then i haven't upgraded anything.

I think of it as "new" but it's been around for a few months now -- these problems didn't just appear. I avoided upgrading as long as possible, then it auto-upgraded at some point. It could also be that it simply doesn't play well in IE (imagine that! an MS program not playing well with another MS program!) -- but I can't download Firefox at work. When I get home I'll try Hotmail on Firefox and see if it's any better.

Not really. they tout the "new features" and don't pay any attention to the fact that they broke things. Same browser, same connection and now broken. The ONE time you had a choice (classic vs. new) hotmail; I kept the classic ... and the new 'features' (not bugs because we've documented them) apply to both.
