Deck fun

Hmmm....new house has wonderful deck. Big, solid, structurally sound. Previous owners powerwashed it with too high pressure, so wood grain is sticking up above surface (actually, the powerwashing compressed the area between the grainlines). They didn't re-treat the deck afterwards, so it now (after 3 months of constant rain) needs to be recleaned, sanded, and waterproofed.

Then I can put our new grill and furniture out! Woo-hoo! But must finish deck first. At least I get to play with a belt sander this weekend! Wheeee!

To be fair, they couldn't retreat the deck, the snow and monsoon season of this area was pretty impressive.

We have new power tools! Oh, [livejournal.com profile] xpioti, wanna play? Just kidding Java. Eventually the deck will be finished (pun intended), then maybe we can use the sander to build shelves for the book collection of unreason. Heh heh heh.

If you find that you have lots of fun with that sander and the finishing in general, you could always come over and do my deck next! (Eowyn said I could tell you that :-)

We had to wait a year after the deck's new railings and stairs were finished... it's been almost 2 now... and as the deck's under some trees, it looks like more.
