Woman stays at Holiday Inn, finds 3k dollars in coffee jar, turns it in and is told that if it's not claimed in 90 days, she'll get it back. After 90 days, Holiday Inn decided to keep the money. The woman is considering legal action, and says if HI gives her the money, she'll donate it to charity.

I'd say Holiday Inn (or at least that particular branch) is fulla shit.

When I was in junior high school, some kid found a wallet with no ID, but containing 60 some odd dollars, and returned it to the school office. He was told by the principal that if nobody claimed it before the end of the year, it was his. He told nobody else about this.

At the end of the year, when we were graduating, the principal stood up during part of the awards ceremony, and awarded the money to Kevin... for his honesty.

I firmly believe that anyone who does this kind of thing should be rewarded with the "spoils" if they go unclaimed... Because they were honest enough to try to find the real owner first. She could have kept it, but she didn't. The maid didn't find it, she did (which also proves how often they likely clean their coffeemakers, but I digress). If the maid had found it, I could see their case, since the maid is an agent of the hotel (although it would be a goodwill gesture on their part to give the maid the cash as well). But they said one thing, and are now doing another. That's called FRAUD.

Well, there's a good reason to not stay at a Holiday Inn again. Or at least, not that one.
