A coworker has three kids, less than 10 years old, and just bought Activision's Spiderman for PC. Recommends at 16MB 3D vid card (or better), and his three-year old system doesn't currently do 3D. Clearly he really doesn't need ATI's latest and greatest, and he doesn't want to drop half of his wallet, but I don't want to recommend garbage to him either. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I was just up to the same thing. First off, visit www.tomshardware.com. They have a good rundown of video cards.

Second, if your video card is over two years old, anything out there will be faster. I picked up a $100 yesterday with 4x the performance of my previous card. It also looks fabulous with all the eye candy turned OFF. It looks even better if it's turned on. SWG went from looking computerish to looking ummmm less computerish.

I would suggest a $80-$100 video card. Any one should do great.

Thanks for the info. The reps at Best Buy generally have no idea what they're doing, but if you know what you want, you can sometimes get a break there.

Hmmm...maybe I should replace my old GeForce2 with an upgrade, then give my coworker my old card...

I don't think he's going to spend $80 or more so he can play a $10 game. But I'll check that site. Thanks again!

I had a GeoForce MX2 myself. You can always get yourself a new one and sell him your old one for dirt cheap. You can also find lots and lots of low end hardware out there, if you look.
