From March 7: Discussed is a $28 Spanish wine, Bodegas Toro Albala Don PX Gran Reserva. The PX stands for Pedro Ximenez.

"Literally as thick as molasses, black mahogany in color (even though the grapes started out white), and with an electrifying sweetness suggestive of caramel, dark brown sugar, raisins, and roasted nuts, Don PX Gran Reserva is none of the most unique dessert wine experiences you could ever have. In fact, this should probably be considered dessert, period, not a dessert wine, for you won't need anything to go along. To make this wine, selected barrels of Pedro Ximenez are sealed and left, sometimes for decades, to concentrate. After at least 25 years, the best barrels are chosen and the black nectar bottled."

Hmmm...I wonder how it would taste on pancakes...
