javasaurusThis year's Kentucky Derby will be vastly different from all previous Derbies. The riders will be wearing advertisements. I have pictures in my head now of NASCAR style logos of spark plugs and oil filters imprinted in the hair of the horses...
Of course, now there will be issues like camera placement, starting position, and rider posture all designed to show the logos better, and possibly affecting race outcomes. And imagine a horse's ability to really show the power of Viagra as he races around the track! However, a good opint from the article below: "The industry is going through some dramatic changes," said Day, Churchill Downs' winningest rider. "It would be nice to stick with tradition, but we also have to do what's best for the game and for the longevity of the game."
