Will your car be stolen this year?

New report just came out listing the most stolen vehicles of 2003, with 1 out of every 200 being stolen. The number one slot belongs to the 1995 Saturn SL. Fortunately for me, I have the 1994 Saturn SL!

GULP! It's third on the list!

*whimper*

I don't get it. I just don't get it. Why would someone want to steal a '94 SL?

Probably for the parts. My little SL has just about 200k miles and still runs great. Getting parts from the dealer is expensive, and probably won't even be possible in the near future, especially since they replaced the SL with the piece-of-doody Ion a couple of years ago.

That's nationwide. Different areas actually tend to have different orders for those things. Even two big cities as close as NYC and DC, I seem to remember both top van and top car being different a year or two ago (the last time I happened to see a list).

Maybe your lucky down here...

Or maybe the villains here are much more interested in my car. They are looking for a '94 SL, medium red, and they want all of them! They are coming for my car! I know they are! I can smell them! And the odd part is, they smell kind of like jasmine...

Must remember to paint my car in the morning. Nobody would steal a taupe Saturn, would they? Maybe mauve...

Bright Orange! Or Chartreuse.... with a bumpy finish, to make it harder to just repaint and look new if they did think of taking it :-)
