Six Flags over Redskins?

Apparently, the Redskins are buying a large chunk of PKS (that's the stock ticker for Six Flags). They have at least 9% and are buying more!

*kerthunk*

Turns out Bill Gates (of Microsoft fame) also owns a whopping chunk of Six Flags, about 11.5%.

Hmm, maybe we want to re-think investing in the company ... the old don't lie down with dogs unless you want fleas.

I am NOT going to comment on the losing football team owner who doesn't care AT ALL about traffic in his little domain (though to be fair Cookie set it up that way) or the who cares whether or not our product is up and working, has security flaws, or has lousy customer service. They only represent 20% of the company.l

Never seriously considered investing in Six Flags (PKS). Their business model is two chaotic, and the quality of their product is too slipshod. That's one major reason for investing in Cedar Fairs (FUN, they own Cedar Point, Knotsberry Farm, and others) -- very stable growth over their entire history, good dividends, great business model, well-maintained product, etc. Disney (DIS) would be another to consider, but their current business practices are a little off -- I'll consider them more once they stabilize.
